"Entomophilia" - the love, respect and appreciation of insects

I'll admit: I have conflicting feelings about bugs. I'm both a little nervous around them - and sometimes even creeped out by them - and drawn to them for their weird beauty.

I blame my many years living in city apartments for my bug phobia. And I credit moving to the country side, and painting the natural world in watercolor, for my deepening love and respect for all wildlife. Including insects.

When I paint something, I tend to find a new kind of appreciation for it. All those hours spent studying every detail, and carefully rendering it in watercolor... It's like me and the subject become buddies. With this watercolor collection, I wanted to befriend the insect world. I wanted to explore it through the eyes of an artist, fall in love with its strangeness and diversity, learn its names, and honor it with my art.

What you see here are all of my original 12 watercolor paintings, now available in a fine art print collection. So that you, (like me) can decorate your walls with beetles, bumblebees and dragonflies, and build you own personal little menagerie of insects. May they also become your friends, and bring their weird beauty to your space.
